Idea behind @ThekedarBhai

Building or repairing a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most families make. Yet finding the right person for the job, understanding what the work should cost, comparing quotations, choosing materials and knowing whether a contractor is actually suitable for the project can still be surprisingly difficult.

TheKedarBhai was created to make that part of the process easier.

We are building a practical platform for homeowners looking for the people and information they need to build, renovate, repair and maintain their homes. Our initial focus is the Hindi-speaking belt, starting with Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, where local names, working practices, construction rates and contractor networks can vary significantly from one city to another.

About ThekedarBhai

Building a house should not require you to become a construction expert

TheKedarBhai started with a very practical problem.

While looking for a house construction contractor in Lucknow, we followed the usual route. We asked around, searched online, contacted contractors and collected quotations. Around 30 vendors were contacted and roughly 10 quotations were received.

What we found was not a shortage of contractors.

It was a shortage of clarity.

The quoted rates were different, but the bigger problem was understanding why. Per-square-foot pricing was not always based on the same scope. Labour and materials were structured differently. Some quotations included items that others left out. Specifications varied. Experience and previous work were another matter altogether.

After collecting more information, it still wasn’t easy to answer the basic question:

What am I actually comparing?

That experience became the starting point for TheKedarBhai.

We are building the help that homeowners are missing

Finding a contractor is only one part of building or improving a home.

Before that comes a long list of questions.

What kind of professional do I actually need? What should the work include? Is this quotation complete? Why is one contractor charging more than another? What should I ask before agreeing? What information is missing? What should I verify about the person I am hiring?

TheKedarBhai is being built to help with those questions.

You can use it to understand a construction or home-service problem, research the work involved, get practical guidance, compare information and find relevant professionals in your area.

When a question needs practical experience, we can also connect it with people from the field, including architects, engineers and experienced construction professionals who are part of our wider expert network.

Think of us as the person you talk to before you hire

TheKedarBhai is not built around the idea that the cheapest quotation is the right one, or that the most expensive provider is automatically the best.

Those conclusions are often impossible to make from a number alone.

A useful comparison requires context.

A contractor quoting ₹1,800 per sq ft and another quoting ₹2,100 may not actually be offering the same thing. The difference may be in materials, specifications, labour, scope, exclusions, timelines or simply in how the quotation has been prepared.

Our job is to help make those differences easier to see.

We want homeowners to be able to ask better questions, understand what they are being offered and approach a hiring decision with more information than they had before.

Local professionals deserve a fair chance too

The other side of the problem is just as important.

India has thousands of capable raj mistri, contractors, electricians, plumbers, fabricators, carpenters, engineers and other local professionals whose reputation has traditionally travelled through word of mouth.

Many have years of experience but little digital presence.

A polished website or a good search ranking does not necessarily tell you who does good work.

TheKedarBhai is being built to gradually change that by collecting useful evidence around professionals: their work, experience, service areas, customer experiences and the types of projects they actually undertake.

Over time, we want a good local professional to be discoverable because of the quality and evidence of their work, not simply because they are better at online promotion.

From listings to evidence

We are not interested in creating another directory filled with names and phone numbers.

A useful provider profile should eventually tell a homeowner much more.

What work does this person actually do? Where do they work? What kind of projects have they handled? What experience can be established? What have previous customers said? What evidence of completed work is available? What should a homeowner clarify before engaging them?

We will build this gradually.

Verification will have to mean something. Customer feedback will need context. Project experience will need evidence. And where something cannot be established, we would rather say so than create a false impression of certainty.

Built for the way people actually search

Construction is deeply local.

In one place someone may search for a raj mistri. Somewhere else they may look for a civil contractor. Someone may type ghar banane wala thekedar, while another person searches for a house construction contractor.

The work may overlap, but the language does not always.

That is why TheKedarBhai is starting with Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, with a strong focus on the Hindi-speaking market.

We want the platform to understand local terminology, local providers and local realities rather than simply applying a generic national directory model to every city.

For the homeowner who knows what they need

You might be planning a new house.

You might be trying to understand a contractor’s quotation.

You might have a leaking terrace, unfinished electrical work, a renovation requirement or a kitchen that needs to be rebuilt.

You may know exactly what you want. Or you may only know that something needs to be fixed and have no idea who to call.

TheKedarBhai is being built for both situations.

Start with the question. Understand the work. Find the right kind of professional. Ask the questions that matter. Then make your own decision.

For the professional who knows the work

We also want to bring the other side of the market into the same system.

A highly experienced local contractor should not need to become a digital marketing expert to be discovered.

If the work is good, customers are satisfied and there is credible evidence behind that experience, we want the platform to give that professional an opportunity to build a stronger digital reputation and receive relevant enquiries.

The aim is not to turn every professional into a salesperson.

It is to make good local work easier to discover.

Our starting point is deliberately narrow

We are starting with Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Rather than trying to list every contractor in India immediately, we want to understand individual markets properly, build useful local coverage and develop a verification and feedback system that actually works.

The platform will expand as the underlying information and provider network become stronger.

What we are building

At its simplest, TheKedarBhai is a place where people can come when they have a construction or home-service problem.

They can find a quick answer.

They can research before spending money.

They can get help understanding a quotation.

They can find relevant local professionals.

And over time, they can see which professionals have real experience and evidence behind their work.

For professionals, it can become a way to receive better-qualified enquiries and build a reputation based on actual work and customer experience.

We believe those two sides belong together.

Better-informed homeowners create better enquiries. Better enquiries create better opportunities for good professionals. And every genuine project experience can make the platform more useful for the next person.

That is what we are building at ThekeDarBhai.
